Dear Wagyu breeders,
wir möchten Sie heute informieren, dass die australische Wagyu Association in den letzten Tagen einen neuen Gesamtindex für die Wagyuzucht vorgestellt hat. Er heißt Breeder-Feeder Index und macht aus unserer Sicht sehr viel Sinn. Er ist gemacht für Züchter, die ihre Kälber selbst aufziehen und halten, also die Mehrheit unserer Züchter.
Für ihn wurde der alte Wagyu Breeder Index fallengelassen. Für uns sind ab jetzt 2 Indizes wichtig, der neue Breeder Feeder Index (BFI) und der bisherige Self Replacement Index (SRI). Jeder möge für sich entscheiden, welcher für ihn bei der Beurteilung von Tieren der wichtigere ist. In Auktionskatalogen werden wir in Zukunft diese beiden Indizes veröffentlichen. Die Korrelation (Übereinstimmung) zwischen beiden beträgt 78%, das ist relativ hoch, aber bei Einzeltieren kann es schon zu deutlichen Unterschieden kommen.
Was sind Unterschiede zwischen beiden?
Beim neuen BFI werden sehr hohe und sehr niedrige Geburtsgewichte abgestraft.
Positive Milchmenge wird stärker reinberechnet.
Stärkere Beachtung von Karkassengewicht im Unterschied zu Tageszunahmen.
Starke Betonung des Marmorierungs Scores.
Insgesamt spricht schon einiges für den neuen BFI.
Bitte beachten, die Streuung der Ergebnisse ist beim neuen BFI deutlich größer als beim SRI. Top Werte von 600$ BFI werden erreicht, beim SRI liegen sie bei guten 400$, Arubial United mit 431$ ist ganz vorne dabei.
Top 1% der Population ist ein Tier im neuen BFI mit +434$ und Top 5% mit +358$.
Einige der Zuchtführer des neuen Index BFI:
Mayura L10 fällt positiv auf. 488 im BFI, das ist leicht Top 1%. Viele seiner Nachkommen sind auch hoch.
Und auch der neue Top Bulle aus Australien Olive Grove S033 mit 473 BFI, sowie sein Vater Itoshigenami G113 mit 480.
Und noch ein Bulle aus unserem Angebot, Wyndford Diablo mit 439 BFI.

We want to inform you today that the Australian Wagyu Association has presented a new total index for the Wagyu breed during the last days. It is called Breeder-Feeder Index and makes a lot of sense from our point of view. It was made for breeders who raise their own calves which is the majority of us breeders.
The old Wagyu Breeder Index has been eliminated instead. For us 2 indices are important from now on, the new Breeder Feeder Index (BFI) and the already known Self Replacement Index (SRI). Each of you may decide which one is the more important one for him to evaluate animals. In auction catalogs we will publish these two in the future. The correlation between both is 78%, that is rather high, but when looking at individual animals there can be large differences.
What are the differences between both?
With the new BFI very high and very low birth weights are punished.
Positive amount of milk will be respected more.
Stronger influence of carcase weight compared to daily gain.
Strong emphasis on marbling score.
In total, quite a bit speaks for the new BFI.
Please note that the spreading of the results in the new BFI is quite a bit bigger than than in the SRI. Top values of 600$ BFI are achieved while they are a bit above 400$ in SRI, Arubial United with 431$ is one of the highest there.
Top 1% of the population in the new BFI is +434$ and Top 5% is +358$.
